FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
: KITCHENS
1.
How much is a new Timbercraft kitchen likely to
cost me?
Your kitchen is likely to cost anything from £5000
to £25000. The overall price is dictated
by the following:
a) The size of the kitchen
b) Whether your doors are solid timber painted
vinyl wrapped
c) The amount of work involved in the installation.
d) How many new appliances you are having.
e) Whether or not tiling and /or decorating are
included in the price.
f) Whether or not you have granite tops
Your Designer will advise you in detail of all
of these issues and help you arrive at a specification
which suits your needs and budget.
2.
Is it better to have solid wood or a wrapped door?
There are numerous pros and cons between vinyl
wrapped mdf doors and solid timber. The latter
are considerably more expensive, but overall solid
timber may only make the difference of £1500
- £3000 on a full kitchen. Your Designer
will advise in detail of the benefits or otherwise
of vinyl wrapped v timber and the precise cost
implications for your kitchen.
3.
Are your carcasses flat packed?
All our carcasses are supplied rigid with solid
backs. Occasionally very large units are produced
flat pack if they are too large to get through
a doorway (eg "L" corner bases and double
larder units) but otherwise all are rigid and
of a very heavy duty construction.
4. Can I put my
existing appliances behind doors?
Some existing appliances can be put behind doors
eg washing machines and tumble driers. Doing this
involves using specially made wider doors and
deeper worktops. It is not usually a feasible
option for refrigeration products and dishwashers.
Generally new integrated appliances are a superior
option but your Designer will advise you which
is the best for you and what the financial implications
are for the different options.
5. Are your carcasses
"colour co-ordinated" with the doors?
Yes. All of our carcasses are made of matching
material to the doors. Absolutely perfect matching
is not possible as carcass and door materials
are different. You can see the exact effect in
our showrooms.
6. Can you make
non standard doors and units?
Yes. Most of our ranges have the facility to provide
non-standard doors and we can provide carcasses
to any size. Our standard sizes go up in increments
of 50mm ie. 300mm, 350mm, 400mm, 450mm, 500mm
etc so that even without using non standard sizes
we have enormous design flexibility to produce
a completely bespoke kitchen.
7. Can you provide
facilities for a disabled person?
Yes. Usually this involves lower level base units
for wheelchair access and these units are part
of our standard ranges. Your designer can help
you with specifics.
.
8. Can we see computer
images of different designs?
Yes. All of our Designers are equipped with laptop
computers and we have larger display screens in
our showrooms. We use the very latest sophisticated
programmes so that we can represent each layout
with remarkable accuracy.
9. Do you sell built in electrical appliances?
Yes. We sell a full range of built in electrical
appliances. We do specialise in certain quality
brands eg Bosch and Neff, where because of the
volume we purchase we can offer competitive prices.
9. Do you use "soft
closure" drawers and hinges?
Yes. All our ranges come with a huge range of
options in drawers and other internal fitments.
All of our drawers are of the latest "Tandembox"
design and all our doors have soft closure devices
as a standard feature.
