Mr & Mrs C of Littleton Upon Severn, Fitted Kitchen

Being both enthusiastic cooks and keen vegetable gardeners, our clients uncompromising design brief was “a highly functional family kitchen with country style”.

Mr & Mrs C were keen to increase the storage and at the same time make the kitchen feel more open. Moving the sink from in front of the window solved issues with the cottage walls being so deep the window was difficult to open, allowed deep pan drawers to be fitted instead of corner cabinets and had the advantage of enough worktop for them to both work in the kitchen at the same time.

Cornell Oak Fitted KitchenReplacing the wall units on one wall with a tall larder cupboard, positioned at the end of a run of base units, provides unobstructed and unrestricted movement around the rest of the kitchen. It’s a versatile storage solution; it can be fully shelved to store a multitude of provisions and crockery and can easily house brooms, mops, ironing board and vacuum cleaner, if required.

By keeping the colour of the walls and ceiling light, Mr & Mrs C were able to add warmth to the scheme with Cornell’s natural oak. The elegantly styled timber door is the epitome of a country kitchen, combining outstanding craftsmanship with everyday functionality.

For a distinctive contrast they chose Nero Angola for the worksurfaces. A black coloured granite that gains additional depth from the large pearlescent crystals that sometimes contain bronze coloured flecks. Granite worktops are incredibly popular, as they are both strong and durable. Popular with keen cooks, as the cold surface is perfect for making pastry. The black range cooker and hood add to the timeless aesthetic of this stunning kitchen.

Mrs C is thrilled. She says “I love the finished kitchen. The layout works really, really well.”
