Mr & Mrs W of Portishead, Fitted Kitchen

Our clients, Mr & Mrs W, had a very clear idea of what they wanted, both from the design and in terms of the products. Extensive structural building works were carried out to create the large open plan space. The minimalist contemporary design of the handleless Gallio kitchen was chosen in a matt white finish, it’s clean lines suit the space perfectly.

Improved storage was key to the success of this design and there’s a great mix of cupboards and wide drawers to maximise the space available. Appliances are hidden from view so the overall look is clean and contemporary.

The layout gets a thumbs up on the practical front too, being very much a cook’s kitchen with a dedicated food preparation and cooking area in the form of the island. Installing a second sink in your kitchen allows two users to cook and clean or prep simultaneously, making everyday meals and special occasions easier to prepare for and clean up after.

Mr & Mrs W of Portishead, Fitted KitchenFor a streamlined look and ease of access, the ovens are accommodated in a large bank. Neff’s Slide & Hide disappearing oven door is not only a stunning design feature but also a practical and safe choice. By removing a hot oven door from the kitchen space, you eliminate the chance of burning hands or arms by accidental contact. Also, with better access to the oven cavity it’s easier to lift out heavy or large items, avoiding the dangers of drops or spills.

An extra wide induction hob is set into the impressive island unit and the downdraft extractor saves space and keeps the streamlined aesthetic. This type of extractor hood is installed behind or alongside your hob; gliding into position at the touch of a button when required and neatly hiding from view beneath the work surface when not in use.

A sleek, seamless finish with clutter concealed from view was top of Mr & Mrs W’s wish list and our designer achieved this with the use of Le Mans corner storage solutions, tall pull-out larder units, wide pan drawers and narrow 150mm base unit pull-outs, which are handy for items such as tea-towels, trays, etc.

Mr & Mrs W selected Silestone in Tigris Sand as it imitates a warm toned limestone but in an engineered surface without the upkeep issues of natural stone. The 80mm upstands have been extended into the window sill to give complete protection from splashing water.

For the flooring, ceramic tiles were chosen for their hard-wearing qualities with the slightly darker tone adding depth to the overall design.

Mr & Mrs W say “We would like to pass on sincere thanks to Rich at Timbercraft’s Clevedon branch – he helped us create our perfect kitchen! We cannot praise him highly enough.”
